Frequently Asked Questions

1

Is a plant-based diet safe for my dog or cat?

Absolutely. As a vet with 30+ years of experience, I formulated Just Be Kind to meet the rigorous FEDIAF nutritional guidelines for both dogs and cats. Our products are "complete and balanced," meaning they contain all the essential amino acids and vitamins - including Taurine and vegan Vitamin D3 - that pets need to thrive, maintain healthy hearts and stay active at every life stage. We only use science and evidence-based studies to support all the products that we promote.

2

How does 'soya-free' nutrition help with itchy skin and allergies?

Many common pet allergies are triggered by animal proteins or GMO soya fillers found in standard dog and cat food. By being 100% pure plant-based, soya-free and gluten-free, Just Be Kind removes these inflammatory triggers. You should notice a significant reduction in scratching, redness, and digestive upsets in your dog or cat within 2-4 weeks of removing these common allergens from their food bowl.

3

My vet is sceptical about plant-based diets; what should I tell them?

It’s natural for vets to be cautious, as many plant-based brands are not yet known due to fierce competition and dominance by the meat-based pet food corporates used in vet practices in the UK. However, Just Be Kind products are all chosen by Dr Arielle Griffiths (MRCVS) and backed by robust clinical evidence. We provide full nutritional transparency and use highly digestible proteins and cutting edge novel fermentation proteins, which many veterinary professionals now recommend as a clean, hypoallergenic alternative to traditional "Prescription Diets."

4

Will my pet actually like the taste? (What if they are picky?)

We use clean, wholefood ingredients such as Faba bean protein, Omega 3s and fermented proteins that have a rich "umami" flavour that dogs and cats crave. If you have a particularly picky eater, we recommend adding our Omega 3 Algae oil to any of the foods we stock. It's rich aroma and taste is highly enticing and acts as a perfect addition to encourage even the most hesitant dog or cat to lick their food bowls clean.

5

How do I transition my pet to Just Be Kind?

We recommend a gradual 7–10 day transition to allow your pet’s gut microbiome to adjust. Start by mixing 25% Just Be Kind foods with 75% of their current food and slowly increase the ratio every few days. For cats, who can be more sensitive to texture changes, taking the full 10 days ensures they accept the new protein comfortably without any tummy upsets.

You can add nutritional yeast, warm the food slightly, or add Omega 3 Daily Algae oil to their food to encourage fussy eaters to try the food.
