Your Questions Answered

If cats are obligate carnivores, can they thrive on a plant-based diet?

Yes absolutely cats need a set of nutrients rather than a set of ingredients, and if those can all be supplied as pure plant proteins with the addition of Taurine, Lysine, Zinc and Biotin, as well as Omega 3 from microalgae rather than from fish, then we can most definitely feed our cats a pure plant powered diet.

Please read this article about what an obligate carnivore really means.

Will my cat suffer from any deficiencies eating Ami dry food?

No, your cat should receive everything that they need from AMI dry food which is 33% protein and 13% fat - exactly what our cats need. To ensure even more nutrients are added to your cat's diet, we offer our Starter Pack for Fussy Felines which includes AMI 300g + PlagueOff dental bites with extra levels of Arachidonic Acid from brown seaweed + Omega 3 Daily vegan salmon oil which provides even more Vit D3, preformed Vit A, antioxidant astaxanthin and DHA and EPA all from pure sustainably sourced microalgae. Perfect if you have a particularly fussy cat!

Why is it so important to have the inclusion of non-GMO ingredients as found in AMI dry food?

When you consider that the most commonly grown crops in the world such as soya, corn and wheat are grown to feed our feedlot animals to ensure that a chicken can be slaughtered at 6 weeks, or a pig and 5 months; these crops have to be grown cheaply. This is why the most sold crops of corn, wheat and soya are genetically modified to withstand herbicide and pesticide use ie the weeds die and the GMO corn, wheat and soya survives. These pesticides are then fed to the farm animals who bioaccumulate it in their livers and kidneys (the very organs used in meat-based pet foods), or these GMO grains are added to 98% of pet foods such as Sheba and Whiskas (as shown in this article). When the aim is for financial gain to earn as much profit as possible, a supplier will add genetically modified soya or corn to a pet food. We have selected AMI for your cat as it is FREE of all genetically modified corn - only the best quality for your cat.

My cat suffers from urinary tract issues and a wet food diet is recommended, not a dry food -can I still feed AMI dry food?

It is advised to feed a tinned or wet food with any urinary tract issues in cats, but as we do not recommend any tinned cat foods just yet (we are waiting on Benevo to split their dog/cat tinned food) it is possible to soak AMI dry food in water or a plant-based milk to encourage your cat to take in more moisture.

Can AMI be fed to kittens?

The protein level in AMI is balanced for adult cats only. Kittens have a higher requirement of Copper, Zinc and DHA Omega 3 for their growth as well as extra Arachidonic acid, so at this stage, we do not have a complete vegan food for kittens as we do for puppies (where we recommend Noochy Poochy Puppy)
