"So happy to share Zen’s story!

I took him in initially as a temporary foster home (we all know how that ends!) at 6 months old, rescued from a neglectful french bulldog breeder.

Poor little guy had already been through so much - two nose surgeries later and he still can’t breathe quite right. When I first got him, he was covered in hives, had a bloodshot eye, was skin and bones, and dealing with constant tummy issues. We eventually discovered he’s allergic to wheat, which explained a lot.

This is one of the first pictures I have of him. He was so nervous to step outside, he kept on asking me to pick him up, wanted to hide inside of my rain coat"

"Thanks so much for formulating give a dog a bean! Our dog walker commented for the second time today on how shiny Zen’s fur has become, since we switched him from the veggie butternut box recipe to give a dog a bean!

His poops are also much better now, and he’s completely stopped trying to eat poops on walks, which honestly has been such a life saver.

I also found and tried out a few of your homecooked recipes from the website! Made the first batch for Zen today. He loved it!

He kept pressing his FOOD [fluent pet] button asking for more and more. Turns out quinoa prepared with all the good stuff is a big hit after all! 🤨😂 Thank you again for all that you do ❤️" -  Alex

Healthy vegan French Bulldog in kitchen
Lucky little Zen to be adopted by Alex!
She did all the right things for him. Butternut Box removed their only sustainable option Plant-Get Enough in August 2024 which had no animal proteins.
They still have Ready Steady Veggie which is NOT vegan or sustainable. It contains both cheese and egg (very inflammatory for dogs), and they use flaxseed as an Omega 3 source when dogs do not break down the ALA to Omega 3 very well, so far better to choose the pure Omega 3 from Algae oil instead of from flaxseeds!
See the comparison here of Butternut Box's only vegan option Plant-Get Enough (when it was still being produced, compared to Give A Dog A Bean)!
We promise we will NEVER run out of Give A Dog A Bean and read below how 9 tons arrived at our warehouse to feed Zen and all of those dogs like him who need a wholefood minimally processed complete food!
