So lovely to receive this message from Anne-Marie about Jack the rescue street dog and keep reading to the bottom to learn some amazing facts about street dogs (!) -
"Today is Jack's 7th anniversary of arriving in the UK from Malaysia and although he'll be 8 in June, he still has puppy energy and is a really fit and healthy dog, which is testament to his great diet.
Here is a link to Jack's Instagram page. He did have a pretty dodgy start to life in Penang, getting run over as a baby and sustaining two broken legs! "
Best regards Anne-Marie
Anne-Marie had left us such a kind 5-star Google review 7 months ago full of positivity:
"My dog, Malaysian rescue street dog, Jack, has been on a plant based diet since I brought him back from Malaysia at about 9 months old.
He's been on Solo Vegetal for about 3 years now and he is such a healthy dog, with a gleaming coat. He still has real puppy energy and people are surprised to learn that he's 7 years old. I often take a pocket full of his food as training treats, he just loves it."

Why do street dogs in India live longer than other street dogs?
Almost all of the millions of street dogs that live in India are plant-based, like their vegetarian human neighbours. In India, cows are regarded as sacred and dogs would not be fed meat at all.
Given that we know through studies that the dog has adapted to digesting starches and grains, it is interesting that these street dogs live a longer and healthier life scavenging off plant-based foods than in western countries that have 'meat-based' ultra-processed foods for them to live off!
A fascinating study that is now over 10 years old, showed through the street dogs of India, that dogs do NOT have a preference for meat and that choosing a meat-based food is a learned behaviour - wow!
