"Hello again Arielle,
We are just so happy to have our Red back to where an Irish Setter should be. Happy and healthy finally after almost 5 weeks of being seriously ill before Xmas 2024 during and following haemorrhagic enteritis; so ill that we almost lost her.
I took your advice and fully transitioned her onto Solo Vegetal and added Greta later so she is vegan now:) We had a rather rocky few weeks when she developed sores on her belly which were tested and found to have both bacteria and fungal spores present and put down to a weakened immune system.
Where is she now? Everything has almost settled. She looks amazing and is full of life again (and mischief).
I have had compliments about her glossy coat which has darkened a little to a beautiful colour so she is invisible in the dead foliage of the fern dells I take her to. Her sores are also almost gone and her eyes have stopped weeping.
She loves the new food into which I add some mixed cooked veg and her stools are as they should be; not at all like the dried out pellets produced from many commercial extruded diets.
She is a dog who has already had to have her teeth cleaned once under anaesthetic which I had decided I would never put her through again but there is no need now. They are gradually cleaning and I put this down to the Just Be Kind food. I would like to think that the food you provide has helped strengthen a very much weakened immune system post illness. I also plan to start giving her the Omega 3 Algae oil from you to benefit her skin and immunity further.
She is slowly gaining fitness but there is still some way to go after months of very little. Best of all she is enjoying a dog's life again.
I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to get Red off commercial foods such as Purina always with really bad results so I am delighted to be giving her Just Be Kind food now and doing so well. It is such a bonus animals are not involved in her food; I rarely eat meat myself and also seem to be doing well on a mainly plant based diet!
I hope you don t mind my writing this email but it has been nice (and rare) to be able to report good news after 5 years of Red having one health crisis after another. We all have our fingers crossed the Just Be Kind food will be her small miracle and give her a better life. Time will tell.
