Barty is a much loved 12 year old Shi-Tzu from Leicestershire with so many skin and digestive issues.
In his Dad's words - "Barty was eating Winalot meaty chunks in gravy twice a day until about 8 weeks ago. Since then he’s had a lot of loose poos with mucus.
Currently on a plain diet of rice and fish. Digestive issue returns each time we try to gradually reintroduce meat based food. Tried Royal Canin gastrointestinal wet food but didn’t help.
He suffers from atopic dermatitis currently being controlled with medicated shampoo and steroid spray twice a week."

What top tip did we give to Barty's Dad to really help?
Barty's Dad mentioned all the foods he had tried that didn't work and help him, but Barty's dad confessed to treating Barty with M&S deli sausages.
It is so common for us to forget that there is no point in feeding a hypoallergenic expensive veterinary prescription diet when even a tiny amount of a high animal protein treat that triggers allergies and intolerances in dogs, can cause all of the symptoms to resume.
The solution is so simple when your dog is 100% plant-based as Barty is soon to be! Replace any meat-based products with their plant-based alternatives. In Barty's case, the advice I gave was so very simple and his Dad was so relieved to hear this option which I sent in an email -
"I'm sure that our foods will help Barty and his skin condition long term, and my advice once transitioned, is just cook up a few Linda McCartney vegan sausages and give instead of the M&S deli sausages - he probably won't even notice the difference :)"
