BROWN RICE, PEAS AND WALNUTS (and BioBuddy)
This recipe is so very simple and one that I confess to being a favourite of mine for the easiest quickest meal to share with Ruff - it's just cooked and rinsed brown rice, cooked peas, crushed or broken walnuts and a dash of tamari sauce (or low salt soya sauce) for extra flavour - delicious!!
NO FISHY DELICIOUS DISHY!
This highly nutritious meal is for all of your extra fussy dogs out there as it is filled with strong smells that dogs (and us) really crave!
It is made so simply by mashing a drained tin of chickpeas, or crumbling tofu or Tempeh. Then mix with cooked white rice, some snips of sushi nori seaweed, and a healthy drizzle of our bright pink Omega 3 Daily full of Omegas from the most sustainable pure microalgae that krill and small fish would eat to give them their flavour, colour and Omegas!
This dish can be finished off with sesame oil to add even more flavour and smells that dogs crave! (For us, you can add fresh lemon juice - NOT for dogs as they are not fans of the bitterness of lemon juice and a good sprinkle of black pepper too....and yes it does taste like 'vegan tuna!')
DIVINE SWEET POTATO LENTIL DAHL AND TURMERIC (and BioBuddy)
So very simple!! Just cook sweet potatoes with skin on (I use a skewer and cook them in the air fryer), and mix with turmeric and well soaked, rinsed and cooked red lentils.
That's it - SO delicious and so nutritious! (I confess to having had a mouthful of this for my lunch just before taking the video!!)
HIGH PROTEIN BOWL OF TOFU, QUINOA, CRUNCHY KALE AND TOPPED WITH 'CHEESY' NUTRITIONAL YEAST
I mention it in the video, but yes, tofu mixed with nutritional yeast (and also coriander spice), is something that I cook and eat every day and share with Ruff. He just hears the rustle of the tofu packet as I open the fridge and he gets SO excited!
Read more here how much we both LOVE tofu - the world's number one protein source!
This recipe combines a number of nutrient rich ingredients such as cooked quinoa (rinse well before boiling to remove any bitterness from the seeds and always white quinoa for dogs), crumbled tofu, nutritional yeast, olive oil with garlic massaged into the leaves of curly kale before roasting for just 2 minutes for a truly delicious dish to share with your dog (and add to BioBuddy!)
PEA PASTA, CHICKPEA PASTA, LENTIL PASTA AND FROZEN VEGETABLES WITH NUTRITIONAL YEAST
You cannot get easier than this high protein combination of delicious, quick ingredients. Just boil the plant protein pastas well for better digestibility (NOT al dente for your dog), and steam or heat the frozen vegetables, add as much nutritional yeast as you want and the whole meal is quite delicious and really high in pure plant proteins!!
NUTRIENT RICH VEGETABLE BROTH RECIPE
I get asked so often what to give your dog if it suffers from a bout of sickness, or is recovering from an surgery and needs a nourishing bowl to help it recover quicker (that is also delicious!)
Our nourishing vegetable broth full of flavour and wholefood plant powered goodness is ideal. We make it up batches and freeze portions and Ruff has some everyday warmed up on his BioBuddy.
I confess that after a busy day where I just do not have the energy to cook, I have it too with some pasta, brown rice or sourdough bread - it really is delicious!
Just chop fresh carrots, celery (or fennel), fresh basil and parsley and whichever vegetables are left at the bottom of your fridge drawer such as green beans, spinach etc. Fry these gently with some olive oil infused with garlic (yes your dogs can have that little bit of garlic oil, it is safe and they will love it).
Add in the tastiest ingredient of the lot which is nutritional yeast that we include in ALL our dishes when having a complete plant-based diet as it is so rich in nutrients AND flavour!
I feel so very grateful to the lovely Susan and her gorgeous dogs Lucia, Saffron and Rosie for sharing her home for the filming and she took all the videos - what a fun afternoon it was spent with feeding her darling dogs - bliss!
