Marx's lump on his jaw is benign!!

Yet another success story about sweet elderly Boxer/Labrador Marx to inspire and educate us all about the power of plants!

We first wrote about Marx over 3 years ago when he was 8 years old and his inspiring Mum had transitioned him from a raw food diet to a plant powered one. Read Marx's story when he was 8 and his Mum described him as her best friend! 💚

We were thrilled to hear back from Marx's Mum this year and here are her words -

"My best friend Marx recently turned 12 years old. He has had a dramatic slow-down in his walking: his back legs are clearly troubling him. He gets lots of omegas with your home cooking recipes and the algae oil and I also feed him wet and dry food when I don't have time to cook.

His maximum walking time at the moment is 15-20 minutes before he clearly shows pain. I've been spending a lot of time on Google Scholar and reading up on the clinical trials of things such as glucosamine, MSM, hyaluronic acid, Green Lip Mussel etc.

I've been back to your website to order food and have noticed you have more supplements available than ever! Brilliant to see. I have ordered your Gold Dust (the levels of ingredients per gram are so impressive!) I wish I'd thought to check your shop earlier but I've just had so much on my plate and I hope that it will mean I can stop using YuMove.

I've just placed a huge order with Just Be Kind! Your buy-one-get-one-free offer on the Solo 5kg is fantastic - I'm hoping to use it to try to persuade a friend I'm living with, who has a Golden Retriever, to switch!

I have him on 250mg of paracetamol twice a day which has made a difference in him and about the house he is a happy, affectionate dog, the same as always, who loves to cuddle and play with his toys.

He is booked in for a CT scan next week on his head (to look at a lump), his knees, elbows, carpels, hips and one other area. I hope I'll be able to get back to you with a firm diagnosis of what's going on in his hips. He weighs the same as he did when he was three: 24-25kg. I recently had a full blood panel done on him - a full MOT, as it were, and I'm please to report that his vet said that his blood results are absolutely "fantastic" (her words!).

For a boxer-labrador mix, at his age, I'm really pleased - and what a testament to his plant-based diet! If we can just get what I suspect is arthritis in his hips managed, then I think he will still have lots more sunny days. I have attached some photos of him as he is now (very grey!)"

How I loved this reply a few weeks later -

"Dear Arielle,

Well, Marx had his scan and the lump on his jaw is benign! His slow-down in April is also attributed to some ligament injury in his knees which the vet says should improve with conservative management.

I have already seen an improvement in him. He is walking for longer again now, running again, and I have taken him off the paracetamol. He was zooming in the park so much last week, another dog owner asked me what I give him!

He has started your Gold Dust and I have stopped the YuMove (containing horrible fish powder). I am going to order some of your Omega oil to go with it.

I have attached the diagnostic summary of Marx's scan for you to read if you would like! It's full of veterinary terminology so rather like another language for me but our vet summarised it in a phone call.

As previously said, we are currently staying with a friend and her dog ("Busby", an enormous (40kg!) golden retriever) and she is happy for both dogs to be eating the same food so they are both on the Solo Vegetal at the moment. Marx also gets wet food to better mix with the powders and since you have changed Give A Dog A Bean to trays (and the new Jumping Jack), they both love to lick it out every morning! Photo attached!

I recently read a post by you about the low fat content of Green Crunch (7.5%), so I will be mixing it in with the Solo to manage Marx's weight and keep him SO healthy!" - Beth Norwich

What joy that Marx's lump on his jaw is NOT cancerous and his arthritis is so mild as shown with his results below - hooray!!!
