Did you know that dogs fed a complete dog food diet made purely from healthy plant protein and NO animal byproducts, produce healthy deposits that have NO SMELL (well in Alexis' words as shown in the video below - 'It doesn't smell of roses but it is a LOT less smelly'!!)
This astounding fact was demonstrated to the nation on Channel 5 TV in the UK a few years ago, and is too important not to mention again!
The very lovely Alexis Conran arrived at plant powered vet Dr Arielle's home with his TV crew to film our family dog Ruff and interview me for the day (how lucky were we?!)
We also popped into our local vet practice armed with freshly made poo that morning from plant powered Ruff, and also freshly made poo that morning from Alexis' own dog Gelmer.
Gelmer had been fed a meat-based diet, and Alexis had travelled that morning with Gelmer's morning deposits neatly wrapped in its black poo bag. It was then compared in a 'sniff test' with astounding results as shown below (videod off our TV when it aired on Channel 5)!
SO much positivity with this entire documentary and I couldn't thank Alexis Conran more for choosing Just Be Kind and vegan vet's dog Ruff for this experiment.
Alexis is just the nicest person you could ever meet and how humbled I felt to have met him, been on TV, and have him ask me to help him with this crazy but astounding experiment!
One particular part had me in fits of giggles!!! Alexis played the greek doctor in the TV series ‘The Durrells’ as he is of greek heritage and uses his hands a lot when he talks. When I handed him the only vinyl blue gloves at the practice that were a small size (as most of the staff at the practice are females), he had no choice but to try and squeeze them on.
They all split and he continued to ask me very serious questions whilst gesticulating with his squashed gloved hand and ripped vinyl gloves; and we had to do 3 takes as I couldn’t stop laughing 🙂
**Spoiler alert** Has Gelmer been fed a meat-based dog food since meeting with Dr Arielle?! (see below!!)
It was a happy day and what a huge positive to end on as Gelmer is now fed a vegan diet….yes Alexis Conran has fed his own dog Gelmer Solo Vegetal instead of his normal meat-based food that he was having since his visit to Just be Kind – you could not get more positive than that and it gives us, our dog’s health, and our future environmental health such hope!
