Why do Italian Bolognese Dogs Do So Well On A Plant-Based Diet?

Research shows that plant-based nutrition is the least inflammatory of all the diets and can offer a kind alternative and solution for highly sensitive Bolognese dogs with:

💚 Itchy skin and allergies

💚 Sensitive stomachs

💚 Weight management

💚 Tear stains

Tear stains in Italian Bolognese dogs tends to be a main issue as they are such a sensitive breed.

If feeding a diet that is high in bacteria such as a raw meat diet, or a diet high in cereals and animal protein allergens (a typical meat-based  dog food kibble), then tear staining tends to be an issue.

If fed a complete non GMO plant-based diet; the tear stains seem to disappear as it is full of clean proteins as shown with breeder of Italian Bolognese dogs, Hilary from Surrey.

Chino's Mum Hilary has this to say -

"As a breeder of Italian Bolognese dogs the biggest challenge is the tear staining. I have bred for 18 years.

My dogs have never looked so good, no stains and really healthy. Feed all my dogs now on plant-based and their puppies too, unbelievably better in every way! " - Hilary

Dr Arielle speaks at London Vet Show 2025 about the benefits of plant-based dog nutrition
When nutrition is done right, you don’t necessarily notice it working — you just notice your dog thriving. No noise, no stress, no vet appointments. To benefit our environment and farmed animals too is a massive bonus!
