3 elderly Chihuahuas fed a vegan dog food diet
What wonderful feedback to receive from Nigel in London who feeds his 'brood' of 11 rescue dogs a plant-based diet -
💚 "I've said it before and I’m going to say it again.
I look at my brood, 6 of them essentially geriatrics in human terms, yet thanks to your inspiration and help in switching them to a plant based diet, I cannot believe how healthy they are.
Not only that, when I see other “older” dogs (who are actually much younger), when we are out for walks, mine have a great physique, amazing hair, yes a little wobbly at times - but active. More than anything they are so alert mentally.
Honestly, it’s just amazing to see them. And not one other creature was harmed in this process!
Thank you! "

What has Nigel done to benefit his elderly dogs?

💚 All 11 of his dogs are fed a 100% plant-based diet. They are fed a mixture of Give A Dog A Bean, Solo Vegetal and home cooked food with added Omega 3 Algae oil which provides the correct level of DHA to enhance nerve function and delay doggy dementia, as well as EPA to provide joint comfort for elderly joints.

💚 When home cooking, Nigel makes up a 'broth' of various colours using caballo nero kale, carrots, green beans, celery, peas, fresh parsley, and sweet potato mixed with some nutritional yeast. This is mixed with Give A Dog A Bean tinned food to make it last longer and add in those extra whole food ingredients.

💚 He has booked quite a few teleconsults with me to discuss various issues with his dogs; but the main concern that he has is with their teeth and dental tartar. It is too time consuming to brush their teeth as there are so many of them, so he takes full responsibility and books them in regularly for dentals at the vet.

Dental hygiene ensures that the bacteria in his dogs' mouths is kept to a minimum as poor dental health and a build up of bacteria can affect the heart and kidneys of dogs if this bacteria enters the blood stream, and it can also result in early doggy dementia with bacteria entering the hypothalamus part of the brain (same in people with poor dental health are much more prone to dementia for this reason)!
